An EPSRC-sponsored Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious synthetic inorganic chemist to undertake research in the field of non-aqueous lanthanide chemistry. This post is part of the multidisciplinary project “High-Performance Lanthanide Single-Molecule Magnets with Monodentate Ligands,” supervised by Prof. David Mills and Dr Michael Baker at The University of Manchester. The successful candidate will synthesise a series of lanthanide complexes with a variety of bulky ligands, aiming for examples that show high-temperature magnetic memory effects. We will work together with a wide range of collaborators to analyse bulk solid, solution and surface-deposited samples of these complexes by a wide variety of physical and computational techniques, in order to establish electronic structures and magnetic relaxation pathways in different matrices.
