Hours in the office are negotiable.

Contract Type: FTC (maternity cover).

About the role This is an exciting opportunity to support the Research and Innovations Services (RIS) division as the Assistant to the Director of RIS and as the divisional administrator. In this part-time role, based with the Division in Falmer House, the post-holder will:

  • act as the Assistant to the Director of the Division, supporting a range of administrative tasks including diary management, office management, record keeping, paper preparation and circulation, and arranging formal and informal meetings.
  • Act as the Divisional Administrator ensuring the smooth running of the wider Division.
  • Within clear parameters, take responsibility for specific projects or areas of work.

The role is based in Research and innovation Services (RIS) at the University of Sussex.

About you

This is a pivotal role working with colleagues in a busy and vibrant division where you will responsible for supporting the administration across the Research and Innovation Division. 

They will need to have the ability to work well in a team, be able to use their own initiative, and will need effective interpersonal and communication skills.

The post-holder will act as the first point of contact for requests sent to the Director and the wider Division, and will be expected to draw on previous experience as an experienced administrator.

They will need effective planning and organisational skills and have experience of diary management, minute-writing, and handling sensitive and confidential information.

The successful candidate will have excellent organization, communication, IT and customer service skills.
