Hours: Full Time

Do you want to use your skills to support the delivery of research frameworks to improve the health and wellbeing of those suffering respiratory illnesses? The Air Hub: Engineering Healthier Environments network is striving to better understand our indoor environments, particularly what particulate matter is inside, its toxicology and how we can improve the indoor environment for the most vulnerable populations. As an EPSRC micro-network plus we will be arranging workshops, conferences and research sandpits to build the UKs research capacity in this area enabling further research grants.

In this role you will support the network in a range of activities. You will be expected to manage your time across a mix of roles in supporting the network events, engaging with co-design work, and developing and carrying out pilot projects. You will have the opportunity to spend 1 day a week embedded in Doncaster city council’s Health Determinants Hub, improving your understanding of the public health needs. The pilot projects will run alongside an existing project monitoring air quality in a range of homes undergoing retrofit works in Doncaster. You will be responsible for designing sampling studies alongside engaging with co-design activities and the wider network. You will be expected to carry out the sampling and analyse the results, creating reports and presentations suitable for a wide range of audiences.

The network will be running a range of activities including workshops into health, engineering and ethics, as well as dedicated activities for early career researchers. You will be embedded in these activities and will have the opportunity to network with a variety of academics, researchers, public health professionals and others from across the group.

You will be part of the School of Mechanical Aerospace and Civil Engineering. The role is full-time but we are open to discussing part-time options. We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
