Senior Research Associate in Climate Change Policy, People and Action

Salary on appointment will be £38,784 per annum, with an annual increment up to £46,049 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate in Climate Change Policy, People and Action to join the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, which is headquartered at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK.

You will conduct research on what motivates governments and people to address the grand societal challenge of mitigating and adapting adequately to climate change, and work with project partners to generate societal impact outside of academia.

You will collaborate closely with the Centre for Climate Change Research and Social Transformations (CAST), which is a major ESRC investment founded in 2019. The Universities of Bath, East Anglia and Manchester are its main partners, together with the charity Climate Outreach.

You will have a PhD or equivalent professional experience in a relevant social science discipline (or if you are close to completing, you should have undertaken your viva voce examination by 26 October 2026). You will also have experience of independent research and impact, have significant previous experience of independent and team-based research, have publications in respected journals or equivalent within the field, and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner.

This full-time post is available from 1 January 2027 on a fixed term basis until 31 March 2030.
