The RKES Directorate provides all the central support to deliver the University’s Research (“R”) and Knowledge Exchange (“KE”) strategies. RKES manages a number of initiatives that support R&KE either directly or on behalf of the Associate Principal/Deputy Associate Principals, and has an important role to play in partnering with the Faculties to help Strathclyde achieve its strategic ambitions.
We are seeking to appoint a Training and Engagement Officer to support the delivery of a University wide strategic project for the implementation of a new award management system including research costing, knowledge exchange, contracts, ethics and peer review. The successful candidate will creatively design and deliver engaging training strategies and materials across a range of formats, including training videos, other online resources and in-person sessions, to drive forward the adoption of the new Award Management System.
The Training and Engagement Officer will work closely with the Project Manager, Business Experts, Communication Officer and colleagues across the wider University to drive forward the adoption of the new Award Management System. The post holder will design training materials and course outlines that convey the way end users should use the system for a variety of purposes. The post holder will organise and deliver group courses for all end users, including academics and research administrators, in order that they can successfully use the new system for costing research and knowledge exchange activities, peer review, contracts management and ethics management.
Research and Knowledge Exchange projects are an essential part of the University having an impact on the University’s standing and reputation in the global league tables and rankings (such as the REF), the ability to attract research funding from funding councils, recruitment of world leading academics and researchers to work for the University and high-quality Post Graduate Research (PGR) Students. In this last 5 years the current systems have supported over 4000 research applications, funding for over 500 PGR studentship and over 1000 KE projects.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and time-management skills, have bold ideas and motivation to make those ideas real, strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a collaborative, solution-focused approach.
The role will be located at our city centre campus in Glasgow. Applications are welcomed from applicants who may require flexible working arrangements, in line with the University’s Agile Working Policy.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on 17 September 2025.
