Are you an experienced administrator looking to develop a career in the education sector? Are you enthusiastic about providing excellent customer service? We may have the role for you!
We have an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join our small professional team supporting the Faculty of Philosophy. This is a permanent position to commence as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of tasks to support the administrative and academic activities of the Faculty, including acting as the first point of contact at the Philosophy Faculty, dealing with enquiries and visitors, providing administrative and office support, and coordinating arrangements for the Faculty’s seminars, events and meetings. The role will also play a supportive role to senior administrative staff and other colleagues in the Faculty, and the Institute for Ethics in AI.
This role will suit an individual who enjoys being part of a busy office and working in an environment of changing priorities. The post-holder will be required to be both proactive and reactive, and be able to work effectively as a team member as well as on their own initiative to ensure the smooth running of the Faculty and its activities.
As well as the opportunity to work as part of a supportive team, we can offer you a competitive salary (including an Oxford Weighting Allowance), 38 days holiday per year, enrolment in a good pension scheme, access to employee benefits and discounts and professional development opportunities.
In return we are looking for a candidate with experience of managing administrative processes, preferably in the Higher Education sector; the ability to work independently with minimum supervision; a willing, resilient and flexible attitude; the ability to work well with people at all levels, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. Previous experience of editing websites would also be advantageous. The successful candidate will need to be able to work on-site daily (Monday-Friday) from 9am-5pm.
Applications for this post are to be made online via the above ‘Apply’ button and should be submitted no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 27 August 2025.
Interviews will take place during week commencing 16 September 2025.
