Applications are invited for a two-year Senior Research Fellow (High Performance Computing) position on the EPSRC Prosperity Partnership for the Virtual Exascale Calculations Transform Aviation (VECTA) project. VECTA is a consortium project with collaborators from Rolls-Royce plc, EPCC at the Universities of Edinburgh, Queen's University Belfast, Universities of Cambridge, Warwick and Surrey. The focus of this 5-year project will be on solving the complex system-level modelling challenges introduced by next-generation fuel propulsion.
About You
You will possess a PhD and have a strong background in developing parallel applications for High Performance Computing systems and will be able to contribute to the design, analysis, implementation, optimization and deployment of parallel algorithms and software for multi-core and many-core architectures on large-scale cluster systems. You should have excellent programming skills in C/C++ or FORTRAN and have demonstrable experience in writing and running parallel codes using MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, HIP or SYCL/OpenCL. You will also have interest in the design and development of compilers/translators/code-generation and/or AI/ML model development with good knowledge gained in these areas at least at undergraduate level. The ideal candidate would have excellent software development skills in relation to developing parallel numerical simulation software for HPC systems. The role requires an enthusiastic and task/goal-oriented individual who will be able to communicate effectively and aim to deliver the VECTA goals.
