An exciting opportunity for a has arisen for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Work to join our forward-thinking and developing programme team, within the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing.
Becoming a Lecturer in Social Work offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of the profession by inspiring and equipping the next generation of practitioners. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for creative and inclusive teaching, and a deep commitment to sustaining positive change for individuals, families, and communities accessing social work services. Ideally you will have experience of teaching Social Work within Higher Education and/or in practice, alongside experience in social work practice, with children and families experience being beneficial.
This role allows you to influence not only academic outcomes but also the values, ethics, and critical thinking skills that underpin effective and compassionate practice. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, support students through practice placements, and play a key role in developing professional skills and reflective capabilities.
Our ideal candidate will have experience supporting students and will promote interprofessional learning and collaboration across health and social care disciplines. The post holder will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching and learning across the wider department and faculty. The post requires a collaborative approach, both internally and externally, including working closely with our employer partners in the delivery of apprenticeship and step up to social work programmes.
The successful candidate will need to be registered as a Social Worker with Social Work England.
The Social Work programmes are led by Programme Leaders, supported by an Academic Head of Department for Allied Health Professions, Social Work and Sport, and a Deputy Head of Department for Social Work. The department offers several other programmes which align well with Social Work, including Occupational therapy Apprenticeships, direct entry Physiotherapy, Sports and Nutrition and Dietetics, resulting in opportunities for inter-professional teaching and learning.
