The University of Winchester is looking to recruit a talented and capable self-starter, trained in film and video production, to join our Marketing, Communications & Engagement team as our first Film & Digital Media Officer.
As a highly ambitious institution with a commitment to educational excellence and student success, the University has grown to be an institution of c7500 students studying across more than 100 different courses.
This role would be ideally suited to someone who can craft visually stunning content that captures the energy, ambition, and spirit of our university community and has the necessary skills to both capture and edit filmed content end-to-end.
As part of a successful team with a strong track record, you will be capable of creating effective digital media assets, adapting your work for different digital platforms, as part of our student recruitment campaigns and wider go-to-market activities.
The role will be our go-to storyteller for visual media, shaping how we’re seen on social channels, our website and broader digital campaigns. Whether it’s spotlighting aspects of the student experience, bringing our academic community and research to life, or showcasing our award-winning campus in new ways, your content will inspire, inform, and engage a wide range of audiences and capture the enjoyment of studying at Winchester to share with the public.
Any candidate will need to be a strong collaborator, capable of working to build relationships with staff at all levels. You will also need to be able to display strategic and results-driven thinking, a passion for production planning and be a capable content creator with experience of making rich media content, ideally in a higher education or other people-focused sector.
Key goals include raising the profile and reputation of the University locally, nationally, and globally, alongside our wider Digital and Content Marketing Teams to ensure our use of filmed media is more central to our student recruitment campaigning and story-telling.
The ideal candidate will also be capable of mentoring colleagues working to produce digital media assets and be able to work seamlessly with external production companies and media agencies to an industry standard.
The post holder can expect flexible working, industry-standard equipment, a supportive environment, and real opportunities to grow their skills and shape this role. Plus, they’ll get to produce work that reaches thousands, from the next generation of students through to our global alumni network.
