We are seeking to appoint a Professor in Law to join the Law School within the School of Business, Education and Law (SBEL) at the University of Huddersfield.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and leadership of legal education and research at one of the UK’s most forward-thinking universities. The Law School is a vibrant and collegial environment, committed to impactful, interdisciplinary research and high-quality teaching. Our research is channelled through the Centre for Law, Environment and Rights (CLEAR), which promotes research in human rights, environmental law, and social justice.
The University of Huddersfield is an award-winning institution, recognised for teaching excellence, student satisfaction, and research impact. We hold a TEF Gold rating for teaching quality, are a QS 5-star university, and were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2021 for our world-leading work in secure technologies. We are also among the top UK universities for graduate employability and internationalisation.
As a Professor in Law, you will contribute to the School’s strategic research ambitions through the development of a dynamic, high-impact research programme, leading to sustained peer-reviewed outputs and securing external research funding. You will play an active role in mentoring early-career researchers, supervising doctoral students, and contributing to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). Alongside research, you will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and academic leadership within the Law School and the School of Business, Education and Law (SBEL).
With a PhD in Law, you will be an internationally recognised scholar with a distinguished record of high-quality publications, external funding, and research leadership. You will have extensive experience of teaching and supervision in higher education, and the ability to support and inspire colleagues and students alike. A commitment to collegiality, collaboration, and academic citizenship is essential.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Leader, Stonewall Gold Award holder and Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
