This is an exceptional opportunity to join the University of Manchester at a time of exciting opportunity and growth in online portfolio development. The University is developing a new strategic plan (Manchester 2035) which builds upon our rich heritage and sets out a bold vision for our future. This future includes a vision for flexible, personalised, and digitally enabled learning where we empower students with a tailored learning experience, combining flexibility and cutting-edge digital tools to meet their goals and aspirations.

The Department of Computer Science is leading the way in this activity through the development of fully online post-graduate taught degrees to increase flexibility and access to a University of Manchester education. As a member of staff, you will make a significant contribution to our online portfolio in the area of artificial intelligence as well as engaging across discipline boundaries to apply your work. We are seeking to make two appointments in this area.

You will join the Department of Computer Science - and be part of the wider pan-university portfolio community developing fully online programmes to share experiences and inform future strategy. In 2018 the University joined the Alan Turing Institute, the UK national institute for AI and Data Science. As a University of Manchester staff member you will be fully supported in any application to become a Turing Fellow, with the benefits of facilitated collaboration with leading institutes across the UK.

The Department of Computer Science is a leading research institution, and values exceptional researchers. You will publish to the highest standards, secure external research funding, pursue real-world impact, and contribute to the world-class PhD training programmes within the Department.

The Department values exceptional teachers. You will play a key role in maintaining our reputation as an institute of learning – designing and delivering innovative UG/PG topics, both in Artificial Intelligence and across the spectrum of Computer Science. Exceptional teachers are encouraged to demonstrate this in their application.
