The Role
We are looking for an experienced manager to act as a Duty Manager to provide an excellent library service during extended opening hours.
In this role, you will lead by example, providing outstanding support to customers and visitors, encouraging them to explore our facilities, and helping them make the most of the resources available to achieve their full potential.
The Library Duty Manager is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Library Evening Assistants and for supporting weekend library services alongside the Team Leader. The post-holder is also responsible for managing the library environment, overseeing health and safety, and handling all student enquiries relating to Library Services. Working closely with the Team Leader and Security staff, you will help manage the Library & Learning Environment during evening hours, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-run space for all users.
The role is fixed-term until 20 September 2026, term-time only (39 weeks a year).
Your core shift pattern will be Mon-Thurs, term-time only.
You are expected to work during all term time opening weeks (incl. Bank Holidays). Occasional weekend work may be required so flexibility is essential.
