Research Programmes Manager (Maternity Cover)

About the role:

The Research Programmes Manager (maternity cover) post is key to the operational leadership of the Centre for Injury Studies. The postholder will manage the research and engagement activities within the Centre, in particular, running the NIHR Global Health Research Group on Physical Trauma and Injury POsT ConfliCT (iPrOTeCT) and organising the Blast and Conflict Injury Conference 2026. The role provides the opportunity to work with colleagues across Imperial and in partner organisations worldwide.

What you would be doing:

You will be responsible for managing the Centre’s research programmes and liaising closely with stakeholders within and outside of Imperial.

Key duties will include:

  • Project management of the NIHR iPrOTeCT grant and other associated grants.
  • Working with the Centre for Injury Studies’ leadership to deliver the Centre’s mission.
  • Managing relationships with multiple stakeholders including Centre members, international research collaborators, funders, Advisory Board members, the public, internal colleagues and any other interested parties.
  • Delivery of the Blast and Conflict Injury Conference 2026.
  • Stakeholder engagement and promotion of the Centre’s research activities.
  • Managing financial and progress reporting.

What we are looking for:

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level (or equivalent) in a science or engineering subject. Education to PhD level (or equivalent) would be a strong advantage.
  • Experience working with, or within, the Higher Education sector, particularly within scientific administration at a senior level, with the ability to manage large, complex research projects.
  • Experience of financial management, reporting and progress monitoring.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining an international network of partners and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale international events/conferences.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
