We are seeking to appoint a talented and ambitious Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Bacterial Pathogenesis and Innate Immune Signalling group, based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. This project will explore the fundamental principles and diversity of kinase reprogramming as well as how the activity of SteE works with other effectors to underpin Salmonella pathogenesis.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing their own academic research programme in Salmonella effector biology. You will have a high degree of autonomy to develop the methodology and experimental approaches, as well as being able to build on expertise in bacteriology, cell biology, structural biology and biochemistry in the group.
You should hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in biological sciences and have relevant experience in biochemistry, protein purification and microbiology. You should be able to work independently and have enthusiasm to creatively think “outside of the box” to solve experimental problems. Excellent organisational and communication skills as well as ability to work collaboratively are essential.
This is a fixed-term appointment available for 2 years. If you are interested in this role, and have the skills and experience we are looking for, please apply online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
Informal inquiries can be sent to Professor Teresa Thurston via email teresa.thurston@path.ox.ac.uk.
The closing date for applications is 12:00 on Friday 19 September 2025. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
