Job description:
Are You Our Next Administrative Ace in Sport?
This is an outstanding opportunity to play a pivotal role in the success of student and community sports programmes within an encouraging university setting.
What You'll Be Doing:
As an Administrative Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our sport operations, ensuring everything runs efficiently. You'll provide comprehensive administrative support, always looking for ways to improve efficiency. A significant part of your role involves independently processing invoices, and expertly handling customer enquiries, even developing solutions for non-standard issues.
You'll coordinate all administrative processes for sports competitions, with a strong focus on British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and events. This includes managing team and individual entries, ensuring deadlines and eligibility are met, and proactively resolving complex issues. Taking ownership of fixture scheduling and communication, particularly for BUCS, will also be key; you'll liaise with relevant parties, secure facilities, and resolve conflicts independently. You'll also be responsible for accurately recording, analysing, and reporting on competition results.
Manage administrative aspects for department events like Varsity and Sports Awards, handling budgets and problem-solving.
Who We're Looking For:
We're seeking someone with substantial administrative experience, showing growing levels of responsibility, autonomy, and proactive problem-solving.
Essential to understand regulations and policies, interpret them, and apply with excellent relationship-building skills.
While not essential, experience within a sports administration environment, knowledge of BUCS regulations, and familiarity with sports administration software would be highly beneficial.
Our diverse community values outstanding abilities, backgrounds, and beliefs. We foster a culture where everyone belongs and is respected. Even if your past experience doesn't perfectly match every criterion, we encourage you to apply and highlight your transferable skills!
The University of Sheffield is a remarkable place to work. Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Their diverse backgrounds, abilities and beliefs make Sheffield a world-class university.
We offer a fantastic range of benefits including a highly competitive annual leave entitlement (with the ability to purchase more), a generous pensions scheme, flexible working opportunities, a commitment to your development and wellbeing, a wide range of retail discounts, and much more.
