About Forward College

Forward College is a pan-European higher education institution with campuses in Lisbon, Paris, and Berlin. We offer a new model of higher education that combines academic excellence with character development, leadership training, and practical skills. Our students pursue:

  • University of London degrees, designed by world-class institutions such as LSE and King’s College London, are taught in small-group formats (approximately 15 students) by our faculty.
  • Our own Open Bachelor's programmes are inspired by the liberal arts model and officially recognised by the French State.

Approximately 30% of faculty time is dedicated to research or pedagogical innovation, depending on their aspirations. This is a tenure-track appointment leading to a permanent position upon successful completion of tenure, usually after 24 months.

About the role

Our model reflects our commitment to holistic education and relational pedagogy:

  • 100% small classes with an average of 15 students and 1:1 tutoring.
  • Flipped classroom approach

You will primarily teach Year 1 students at our Lisbon campus. For the academic year 2025/2026, this would include courses from LSE’s Bachelor's in Politics and IR and our own Open Bachelor’s:

  • Introduction to International Relations (1-year and 1-term versions)
  • Introduction to Development

The LSE already develops learning materials, and you will have access to existing  teaching materials

You will also contribute to curriculum enhancement, student mentoring, and pedagogical experimentation within a highly engaged academic community.

About your profile

You should have a passion for teaching and engaging students, be curious about new ways of teaching, have demonstrable excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact well with staff and contribute to the College’s activities.

You will also have:

  • A PhD in Politics and International Relations or Development Studies (preferably from a top-tier university)
  • Proven experience teaching introductory courses in IR or Development at the undergraduate level
  • A track record in research and/or pedagogical innovation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in English (native or near-native level)
