Birmingham Newman University is seeking an exceptional academic to join the School of Business and Law as Principal Lecturer in Business Management. This pivotal role will lead the postgraduate business portfolio, currently our new MBA and MSc International Business Management, driving their growth, reputation, and success in both UK and international markets.
Reporting to the Head of Subject for Business, you will take Programme Leadership responsibility for our postgraduate business programmes, ensuring they remain academically rigorous, market-responsive, and aligned with the School’s strategic priorities. You will also play a key role in shaping the next phase of our postgraduate development, introducing innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and programme design.
The postholder will teach across our undergraduate and postgraduate Business and Management programmes, and contribute to the School’s research and/or professional practice, and knowledge exchange strategies. You will also lead innovation initiatives across the School – such as enterprise, entrepreneurship, and other strategic projects – that enrich the student experience and enhance the School’s profile.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiast person to drive meaningful change and to contribute to the expansion of the business postgraduate offerings. If you are passionate about crafting educational experiences that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, and if you are committed to preparing students for successful careers on a global stage, this role offers an exciting platform for professional growth and leadership.
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in leading academic programmes in business or a closely related discipline, ideally at postgraduate level, and a track record of engaging with industry and professional bodies to enhance programme relevance and employability outcomes. You will bring strong programme leadership and influencing skills, the ability to inspire and collaborate, and a clear commitment to excellence in student recruitment, teaching, learning, and student experience.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-looking university ranked 1st in the country for Student Satisfaction (Complete University Guide 2025) and University of the Year in the West Midlands (WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2025).
