About us

The University of Otago is one of New Zealand’s leading research-intensive institutions, ranked in the top 1% globally (QS World University Rankings). The Otago Business School is AACSB- and EQUIS-accredited, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across seven departments.

In 2022, we launched the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (BEntr) - a multidisciplinary, flexible degree designed for students across Commerce, Arts, Science, and Health Sciences. The BEntr core includes six entrepreneurship papers and two electives, blending theory with applied learning and community engagement. The programme aims to accelerate ventures that address global challenges.

We value our strong relationship with Ngāi Tahu, the mana whenua of Te Waipounamu, and are committed to integrating mātauraka Māori into our teaching and research.

We seek a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to join the BEntr teaching team and contribute to research, teaching, and service (40/40/20 split). The successful candidate will be based in one of the Business School’s departments, depending on their research expertise and teaching responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, delivering, and assessing entrepreneurship courses
  • Contributing to curriculum development and postgraduate supervision (Masters, PhD, DBA)
  • Maintaining a focused research agenda and seeking external funding

Candidates will be expected to have a clear focussed research agenda and a determination to achieve external funding to support it.

  • Uphold tikanga and kawa as guided by Ngāi Tahu and show awareness of other iwi/hapū traditions
