It is an exciting time to join the University of Liverpool Libraries, Museums, and Galleries (LMG).
We are seeking a Head of Collections Stewardship and Research (maternity cover) to join our Cultural Heritage team including the Victoria Gallery and Museum (VGM), the Garstang Museum of Archaeology and Egyptology, and Special Collections and Archives based at the Sydney Jones Library.
You will work closely with the Deputy Director, and as part of their leadership team you will take a holistic approach to service, and be responsible for supporting, developing and influencing a range of professional and support staff.
This role will require you to take a strategic approach to collection development and management, supporting the team in the implementation of a new collections management system including archives, special collections, artwork, and museum artefacts. You will support and shape research and digital scholarship initiatives, increasing visibility, accessibility and usability of collections. You will lead acquisition negotiations and decisions across the service.
LMG is home to diverse and significant collections that trace the history of the University and the many different communities that have shaped that development. We are a signatory of the Liverpool Arts and Culture Race Equality Manifesto, and a member of the Culture Network Liverpool.
We encourage those interested in the role to contact us for an informal discussion to find out more about the role and the workplace.
Interviews are anticipated to take place week commencing Monday 13th October 2025, subject to change.
For existing University of Liverpool Staff, this post may be considered as a secondment opportunity with the approval of your line manager.
This post is to cover a period of maternity leave, expected to be from December 2025 until August 2026.
