About the Role:
In collaboration with senior colleagues in the section, you will plan and oversee the work of the Digitisation Centre, including its digitisation and digital collections programme, and manage SOAS Digital Collections and its digital asset management system. You will collaborate with the Research Office and academic researchers and other library users as well as library and archive colleagues to develop digital collections and enhance their utility for teaching, research, and data mining.
About the Department
The Digitisation Centre is a unit within SOAS Library. The unit has responsibility for managing and developing the SOAS Digital Library and for devising and implementing the Library’s digitisation programme. In addition to digitisation programmes, the team provides a reprographics service to the Library’s users.
Within the Library, the Digitisation team works closely with the collection owners in Access & Discovery and Special Collections, as well as with colleagues in Reader Services. The team also regularly liaises with academic colleagues at SOAS as well as with external stakeholders.
About you
A detail-oriented individual, you will have experience working with digital asset management systems and delivering digitisation projects. You will use your knowledge of digital imaging and processing to implement and supervise image capture and ingest workflows, ensuring that assets and metadata meet the agreed standards. With experience supporting complex projects and managing data, you will play a key role in contributing to the development of project proposals for the digitisation of SOAS Collections and identifying finding opportunities and collaborative projects.
