Applications are invited for a OpenSAFELY Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Manager (Talking Therapies) to work with a team in the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science on the implementation of the OpenSAFELY Talking Therapies programme. We provide the NHS England OpenSAFELY Service, providing secure research access to GP data and we have recently received a significant, multi-year contract with the Wellcome Trust to develop and operate a new OpenSAFELY-Talking Therapies service. The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in ensuring that patients and the public are fully engaged, as we grow the service and broaden its remit to enable secure research on a growing range of health conditions.

The NHS England OpenSAFELY Service is supported by a mature Public Advisory Group (the Digital Critical Friends, DCFs) which is independently Chaired and plays an important role in scrutinising and advising on developments within the OpenSAFELY tools and service. The post holder will work closely with this group in the development of a PPIE plan for the OpenSAFELY-Talking Therapies service. This will involve, but will not be limited to: setting up a new, dedicated Experience-led Public Advisory Group with people with lived experience of NHS Talking Therapies services, organising community engagement events, and co-creating communications materials.

You will work on the development and delivery of the OpenSAFELY-Talking Therapies PPIE plans and support the NHS England OpenSAFELY service PPIE plans; representing the Bennett Institute and advocating the valuable contribution of PPI. You will also be involved with supporting the development and delivery of the Bennett Institute stakeholder involvement and engagement strategy.

You will bring first-hand experience of coordinating patient and public involvement and engagement and/or co-production initiatives in health research or service settings. Have well-developed advocacy and diplomacy skills and excellent communication skills.

You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work and there will be the opportunity for occasional remote working. You will be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

The position is funded by the Wellcome Trust until 30 June 2028 in the first instance.
