Director of Education

Royal Pharmaceutical Society – CEO Office

35 Hours per week

With our transition to the Royal College of Pharmacy drawing nearer we are looking to appoint a Director of Education to provide strategic leadership of the education, learning and credentialing ambitions of the future royal college. This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Executive team and help shape the organisation and ensure its charitable purpose is achieved.

About the role:

  • Develop and implement the College’s educational strategy, ensuring it is aligned with our overall strategic plan and organisational objectives and drives innovation and quality in pharmacist education across the profession. This will involve strategic engagement with partners in the pharmacy and education ecosystem.
  • Lead the creation of a complete learning offer for the profession, shaping the organisation’s approach to learning and professional development and including educational materials tailored to different career stages across the membership and the wider professional community. You will support this, and more broadly, create and lead a strategic approach to events development and delivery.
  • Lead curriculum development and assessment systems, ensuring reliability, validity, fairness, quality, and compliance and including robust processes for supporting candidates through the process and recommending candidates for credentialing.
  • Work as the principal education advisor for the College, including through engagement with relevant external bodies, committees and stakeholders.

Person Specification:

  • Postgraduate educational qualification or equivalent skills and experience.
  • Strong background in professional education leadership, preferably acquired in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience delivering education and high stakes assessments within a professional body or membership organisation.
  • Ability to deliver change management projects and work effectively cross-functionally in politically sensitive environment
  • Proven ability to develop and grow an educational offer that delivers against organisational objectives

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is the professional leadership body for pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists  in Great Britain. We support pharmacists in their education and development, promote pharmacy in the media and government, and lead the way in medicines information across Great Britain and around the world. Our mission is to put pharmacy at the forefront of patient care. Our vision is to become the world leader in the safe and effective use of medicines.

How we are currently working:

RPS supports and works in a hybrid way, which means you will be able to work from home; however, there will be an expectation for collaborative face- to-face working – on average and typically this may be something between 4–8 working days per month at our London Office.
