New College, Oxford, seeks to appoint an Academic Registrar. The Academic Registrar is in overall charge of the academic administration of the college. The Registrar has operational and strategic responsibilities and works closely with theofficers of the College on the fellowship, especially the Warden, Senior Tutor, Tutor for Welfare, and Tutor for Graduates. The Registrar is line-managed by the Senior Tutor but is expected to work autonomously and to be in authority over all administrative matters. The Registrar is also assisted on a day-to-day basis by the Assistant Registrar; these two senior administrators of the academic side of the College share a large office.
The successful applicant will be expected to have, or to develop, expert knowledge of College and University systems and procedures, to take effective decisions, and to build key relationships within and beyond the College. Liaison will also be required with staff in other colleges and University departments.
This is a senior administrative position in the College, suitable for candidates who have held comparable administrative responsibilities in academic or academic-related environments, and who will enjoy working collaboratively with other members of administrative staff, and also with Fellows and other academics of the College.
The Academic Registrar is a full member of the SCR (‘Senior Common Room’), the body of fellows, lecturers, and senior administrative staff responsible for running the college and delivering its charitable aims.
