About the role

The main purpose of this position is to study the early development of somatosensation in preterm infant and how this is related to sensory abilities in childhood using Electroencephalography (EEG) and novel sensory testing paradigms. This will provide an early identification of individual at risk of developing sensory processing challenges and associated neurodisabilities. The post holder will work as part of a new multi-disciplinary collaboration between UCL, UCLH and Birkbeck University which merges the world-class expertise of the centres in preterm brain development and neurodevelopmental assessments. About you

You must have a PhD (or be studying towards it) in Medical Physics or Bioengineering, Computational Neuroscience, Applied Maths or Statistics, or related subjects. You must be proficient in brain imaging, biosignal processing (preferably EEG), and programming in MATLAB, Phython or similar. You must also demonstrate your ability to communicate well to a multidisciplinary team and write to high standards for impactful publications. You will provide your brain imaging expertise to the team and will assist us in the development, planning and delivery of research funded by the UKRI MRC. You will also liaise with collaborators from Imperial College London on the design novel stimulators and sensors to use in the neonatal unit. You will have the opportunity to lead your own research projects within the remit of the project and attend national and international conferences.
