About the role:

We are seeking two Projects Officers to support and coordinate key initiatives within King’s Careers & Employability. The role holders will provide high-quality operational and administrative support across a portfolio of projects designed to enhance the student experience, support underrepresented groups, and promote career development opportunities.

In addition, the role involves supporting communications and student engagement activity in line with identified priorities and needs, ensuring that all initiatives are shaped by and responsive to the student voice.

We are seeking to appoint two full-time positions (35 hours per week):

One on a permanent basis and one on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support & Delivery 

  • Provide operational and administrative support across a broad portfolio of projects, ensuring they are delivered to time, budget and quality.
  • Support the planning, delivery and evaluation of initiatives such as:
  • Careers Mentoring Programme
  • Student Careers Ambassadors scheme (including line management of Enquiries Assistants and acting as first point of contact for ambassadors)
  • Awards programmes, funding opportunities and fellowships
  • Coding/AI workshops and extracurricular enhancement activities
  • Student engagement and feedback initiatives.

Staff & Stakeholder Management 

  • Act as the main point of contact for the Careers Ambassadors team, including day-to-day management of 3 enquiries staff and regular check-ins with the wider group of 16.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across King’s, students, alumni and external partners to enhance participation and engagement.
  • Promote inclusive practices that increase engagement from underrepresented students.

Event & Activity Coordination 

  • Organise and facilitate events, workshops, mixers, training sessions and focus groups that underpin project activity.
  • Ensure events are accessible, inclusive and reflective of student needs.

Communications & Content 

  • Create engaging content and promotional materials in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Source and share case studies, stories and examples of impact that highlight improved outcomes and student employability.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement 

  • Support evaluation methods such as surveys, feedback collection and impact measurement.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor budgets (where applicable), and contribute to reporting and future planning.

General 

  • Take responsibility for resolving students’ and academics’ enquiries, including face-to-face, Microsoft Teams and via email, responding within agreed timeframes and escalating complex enquiries as appropriate.
  • Uphold King’s principles of equity, inclusion, sustainability and confidentiality in all work.

About you: 

Essential criteria

  • Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt style to different audiences.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience providing high-quality administrative or project support in Higher Education or a similar environment.
  • Understanding of the barriers faced by underrepresented groups and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of managing or supervising staff or volunteers.
  • Experience supporting mentoring, extracurricular or student engagement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Higher Education systems, processes and context.
  • Experience of project evaluation and/or budget monitoring.
