ABOUT US

Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

ABOUT THE POST

The Student Enterprise Practitioner is a key member of the Enterprise team, supporting the development and delivery of both embedded and extracurricular Student Enterprise initiatives at London Metropolitan University. The role is central to engaging students, graduates, staff and external partners in developing entrepreneurial skills; and thinking and supporting the creation of new ventures and sharing knowledge across the University community. The post holder will contribute to the strategic growth of enterprise activity and help enhance the University’s reputation for enterprise and entrepreneurship.

A core aspect of the post is ensuring the smooth day to day running of Student Enterprise initiatives. This includes organising and delivering workshops; coordinating events such as the annual Christmas markets; and developing engaging activities within the University’s dedicated coworking space for students and graduates. The Student Enterprise Practitioner will also be responsible for building strong networks with practitioners, businesses, and community partners, creating opportunities that directly benefit students and graduates.

The role involves providing 121 guidance to students and recent graduates as they develop their businesses, freelance careers or start-up ventures. The post holder will oversee a mentoring programme, ensuring meaningful connections between students and experienced entrepreneurs. They will support academic colleagues in embedding enterprise within the curriculum and contribute to communications campaigns and events that raise the profile of student enterprise at the University.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dedicated Enterprise team, supporting a thriving community of aspiring and established student and graduate entrepreneurs. The post brings together programme delivery, tailored student support and strategic input to strengthen Enterprise activity across the University.
