About the Role

As part of our expansion, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford is seeking to appoint five full-time Associate Professors or Professors of Computer Science to start on 1 September 2026. Each post is associated with a Non Tutorial Fellowship at Kellogg College.

Three of the positions are for research within the area of Artificial Intelligence. One of the positions is for research with Systems of Security. The research area is unconstrained for the final post. These Professors will teach predominantly at graduate level on our Part-Time MScs.

Duties will include undertaking original research in Computer Science, securing research funding and disseminating research through publication in high-quality scholarly journals and conferences, together with teaching and student supervision, along with College duties.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline and have a proven research track record of internationally high quality on Computer Science. They should have experience of teaching Computer Science (or closely related subjects) and the ability and willingness to teach effectively, at graduate level, a wide variety of Computer Science topics.

The University of Oxford uses the grade of Associate Professor for most of its academic appointments. Appointments to Associate can include those at the start of their careers directly from PhD, as well as more established researchers.

The Department and College offer an exciting environment, and an attractive financial package to the successful applicants. Please refer to the Further Particulars for details of the wider benefits package offered by the University and by the College.

Demonstrating a commitment to provide equality of opportunity, we would particularly welcome applications from women and black and minority ethnic applicants who are currently under-represented within the Computer Science Department. All applicants will be judged on merit, according to the selection criteria.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 17 December 2025, no late applications will be considered. All shortlisted candidates will have an in-person interview in Oxford, including a presentation. The interview will take two days, 4 and 5 March 2026.
