We are seeking an experienced and driven School Business Manager to lead and manage our School’s professional support services – ensuring excellence, efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.
Our School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences brings together excellence in health, medical and life sciences education with world-leading research, and has an excellent track record of collaborating with a wide range of industry partners across all our disciplines to produce highly skilled graduates with real work experience.
We are proud to be ranked in the top 50 providers nationally for student satisfaction (NSS 2025) with several of our programmes scoring within the top Quartile and in the top 10% for their sectors. We are 1st in the East of England for medical technology, bioengineering and biological sciences (Complete University Guide 2025). Main duties and responsibilities
In this pivotal role, you’ll be the engine behind the smooth running of our School’s operations, working closely with the Dean, School Executive Group and senior academic staff to drive forward a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance. You will have oversight and leadership of all School-based administrative functions – from academic governance, budget management, HR, data compliance and event planning to marketing, admissions, and business continuity. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering the School’s operational strategy.
Skills and experience required
The ideal candidate will have substantial proven administrative experience at an appropriate level and experience of working with a wide range of people in a customer focused environment. You’ll bring management experience, including direct responsibility for finance, staff, performance and other resources with proven organisational skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to lead and motivate teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels is essential, along with experience to support informed decision-making and advice on complex processes. You’ll have a high level of digital literacy, be able to reconcile conflicting demands and have experience promoting equality, diversity and staff wellbeing.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent or proven administrative experience.
