We’re seeking a talented and enthusiastic Technical Demonstrator with expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud to inspire and support students on our successful Publishing and Journalism degrees.

In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate closely with academic staff to design and deliver engaging, practical software training. You’ll guide students through the creative process — from book and magazine design to online marketing materials and blog content — equipping them with the technical skills and professional confidence needed to thrive in the creative industries.

(This is a part-time 0.4 FTE, 13-month Fixed-Term Contract, covering maternity leave)

About the Role

As a Technical Demonstrator (Publishing) you will be an enthusiastic trainer and will deliver classroom-based sessions in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Express, and WordPress.com. 

The role involves developing accessible learning materials, providing one-to-one student support, and assisting learners from other subject areas with design-related assignments. 

You will also stay up to date with software developments to ensure training is current and engaging.

About You

  • Good working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and experience of developing poster, book and magazine layouts. For recent graduates with little working experience, this can include projects undertaken as part of their degree.
  • Be able to use Adobe Photoshop for editing photos and preparing for print and online use.
  • Experience of using Adobe Express to create social media marketing materials
  • Familiar with creating posts with WordPress.com and managing content with the WP admin dashboard.
  • Experience of delivering software training and working with a wide range of learners.
  • Adobe Firefly for AI image generation.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and risk assessment.
  • Basic video editing skills.

Additional Information

The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

  • Please note that evening and weekend working will be required for this role. The arrangement of working hours will be agreed in advance with the line manager.
