Edinburgh Napier University is the number one Scottish Modern University for research in Computer Science & Informatics, Engineering and for Architecture, Built Environment and Planning, as per the Research Excellence Framework 2021.
Currently, our School of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment is leading an EPSRC-funded project and currently recruiting a Research Fellow in Computational Fluid-Structure Interaction to focus on developing computational algorithms for fluid-structure interaction problems including the multiphysics effect of electromagnetism.
The Role:
As a Research Fellow in the “MAPFSI” project, you will be in an excellent position to use your hands-on experience in computational methods for fluid-structure interaction problems, to carry out independent research and develop new computational methodologies and associated software framework under the guidance of the PI and other collaborators in the project.
Your strong working knowledge of numerical methods such as FEM, FDM, and/or FVM will serve you well as you develop advanced numerical methodologies and software frameworks for the simulation of fluid-structure interactions of magnetoactive polymers, contributing to the success of the project.
Furthermore, the role will give you the opportunity to use your experience in formulating problems using the finite element method in solid and fluid mechanics, to validate the computational models using benchmarks and experimental results while assessing and improving the performance of algorithms on high-performance computing (HPC) clusters. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to incorporate your knowledge and expertise and to develop a simulation framework for challenging FSI problems, disseminating your research outputs in the form of journal papers, presentations, posters and conferences.
If you have are excited about Computational Fluid-Structure Interaction and have the relevant skills and expertise to make a positive impact on our project, then we would love to hear from you. In return, we offer fantastic benefits, a collaborative and supportive work environment and the opportunity to work with like minds on this meaningful and impactful study.
