Turning Passion into Purpose. London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for Graduate Teaching Assistants in our Rail Engineering provision to join the School of Engineering and Design.

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to support inspirational teaching and applied learning within our Rail Engineering provision and related disciplines. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will help deliver tutorials, workshops, and laboratory sessions, guiding students in their academic journey while developing your own teaching and professional skills. You will contribute to student success in core subject areas including (but not limited to):

  • Asset Data Management and Professional Practice.
  • Rail Engineering Projects, Plotting and Mapping.
  • Structural and Civil Engineering (including applied mechanics and track/structures).
  • Rail Systems and Vehicle Engineering (including traction and rolling stock).
  • Infrastructure Management and Materials Engineering.
  • Transport Planning and Sustainability in Engineering.
  • Mechanical Systems Design and Dynamics especially in the rail context.

About You:
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:

  • We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with education and/or experience in the rail industry. However, exceptional applicants from Civil or Mechanical Engineering backgrounds with relevant expertise will also be considered.
  • An undergraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge in at least one relevant subject area as stated above.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to developing their teaching skills and contributing to student success.

The ideal candidate should have a commitment to supporting students and enhancing the learning environment, enthusiasm for developing teaching and academic skills, and an inclusive, collaborative working style.
