Research Fellow

To join the Airway Innate Immunity Research group led by Prof Cliff Taggart at the Wellcome-Wolfson institute for Experimental Medicine. This MRC-funded position will involve the evaluation of a neutrophil derived protease in neutrophil function. The post is a suitable for a scientist with the appropriate research experience and the successful applicant will have responsibilities in independent research, supervision, planning, day-to-day lab management, collaborations, and outreach.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Have or be about to obtain* a PhD in Immunology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a closely related area. (*must be obtained within 3 months of commencement of employment)
• Must have Home Office modules 1-3.
• Hold substantial recent research experience in immunology, biochemistry, or cell biology to include: recent extensive hands-on experience in the following:
  • Evaluation of lung inflammation in in vivo mouse models
  • Assays for innate immune responses including ELISAs and Western blotting.
  • Bone marrow cell isolation and maturation Flow cytometry
