About the School or About the Department
The University of Salford Art Collection exists for the benefit of staff, students and the public. Founded in the late 1960’s, it now includes more than 800 modern and contemporary works which are displayed on campus, as well as through loans and partnerships with regional, national and international museums and galleries. The Collection includes printmaking, painting, photography, digital, new media, installation-based work and a small number of public realm works.
We commission and acquire contemporary work under three key interconnected strands: From the North, About the Digital, and Chinese Contemporary Art: together aiming to tell ‘stories of now’. We are also committed to addressing the climate crisis and environmental sustainability, supporting artist development, and embedding equity, diversity and inclusion.
