The People & Organisational Development (POD) Directorate is building a modern, solutions-focused HR service to support staff and strengthen the student experience. Our People Operations team is at the heart of this transformation, providing high-quality support across recruitment and people services.
About the role
We’re looking for a People Shared Service Team Leader (Recruitment) to lead and support our recruitment service. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for recruitment queries, ensuring managers follow best practice and university processes. You’ll delegate and oversee the work of our Shared Service Assistants, coordinate campaigns, and make sure recruitment activity is efficient, compliant, and customer-focused.
You’ll also play a key role in process improvement, maintaining accurate HR records, and supporting equality, diversity, and inclusion through fair and accessible recruitment practices.
About You You’re an experienced HR professional with strong organisational skills and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. You’ll bring:
Knowledge of HR and recruitment processes (including right-to-work and pre-employment checks)
Experience of managing a varied workload and supporting a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff and candidates at all levels
Good IT skills (HR systems and Microsoft Office)
A commitment to continuous improvement and advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion
CIPD accreditation (or working towards it) and experience in higher education would be an advantage.
