The Doctoral Training Centre offers 4-year interdisciplinary PhD (DPhil) degrees to students and provides onsite training for around 100 students per year before they embark on the substantive research phase of the programmes across the University, with collaborative institutions, or with industrial partners, with the funding managed by the DTC throughout the 4-years of study.
The DTC is a dynamic environment which evolves according to the research landscape, responding to scientific, industrial and social demand.
The Grants and Studentship Manager will be responsible for the pre- and post-award activities of high value and high-profile studentship and industry funding held by the DTC.

This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working by mutual agreement, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite and the expectation of occasional additional days onsite to meet operational requirements when necessary.
About the Role
This new post has been created in response to the ongoing success in funding applications for programmes based within the DTC. As a member of our team and working closely with the Centre Manager, the Centre Director, Academic Programme Directors and Programme Managers, the postholder will be responsible for managing several large UKRI grants totalling around £60 million, plus the industrial and partner funding associated with the programmes, with support from other team members.
The postholder will provide expertise into future funding opportunities, producing complex financial models as required and providing guidance on financial structures, processes and regulations.
They will work closely with colleagues in MPLS Division on long and short-term planning and will have additional operational line management support from the MPLS Finance Manager.
About You
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have extensive financial management experience in the higher education sector, including the use of Oracle R12 Financials system, and will have achieved or be working towards an accounting qualification (for example, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT).
You will be able to confidently and effectively communicate with colleagues across the University and with external stakeholders and will be able to analyse datasets and present regular written and verbal financial reports to Programme Directors, the Centre Director and Centre Manager.
