Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy (RIASA), part of Richmond American University London, is seeking to appoint a Student Support Officer at our Leeds Campus. This is a key role within the Student Affairs team, providing guidance, advice, and pastoral support to help students achieve their full potential both on and off the field.
About the Role
The post-holder will offer direct, front-facing support to students, covering a wide range of areas including immigration, health and wellbeing, accommodation, transport, banking, medical care, and academic support. Working closely with the RIASA Head of Department, Campus team, and IASA Coaching Staff, you will play a vital role in fostering a positive student experience.
Main Duties
- Provide student support during set office hours and meet with individuals as issues arise.
- Assist in planning and delivering new student orientation programmes.
- Manage immigration files and liaise with London-based UKVI support.
- Produce university letters for banking, enrolment, and official purposes.
- Advise on accommodation options and respond to student queries by email.
- Support and train the student leadership team, monitoring performance and progress.
- Track student staff hours and submit timesheets to the finance office.
- Maintain and update residence life manuals and student life publications.
- Oversee social media for student activities, encouraging student engagement.
- Help plan student events and trips that build community spirit.
- Collaborate with recruitment staff to give prospective students insight into the RIASA experience.
- Work with coaching staff and external counsellors to promote wellbeing.
- Support Student Government initiatives and promote health and safety policies.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the Vice President (Pro Vice-Chancellor) Student Affairs and the RIASA Head of Department.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students and external contacts.
- Sensitivity, honesty, and integrity in all interactions.
- Strong time management with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Experience delivering student activities or programmes.
- Ability to recruit, motivate, and manage student leaders.
- Teamwork skills, with experience in small project teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database management, social media, and website editing.
- Understanding of higher education and empathy with Richmond University’s mission.
- Knowledge of GDPR.
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable:
- Public speaking and presentation experience.
- Event planning and evaluation experience (small and large scale).
- Experience working with international students.
