An excellent opportunity has arisen, for a highly motivated professional, seeking to develop a career in health & safety in a medical research setting.
You will be part of a small team and will be expected to work closely with the Institute’s core Administration and Building Management teams. You will liaise with researchers, including supporting Principal Investigators to enable them to meet their responsibilities as research supervisors, and with colleagues from the University Safety Office. Responsibilities will include radiation and biological safety, to ensure safe working and compliance with best practice, policy and the relevant legislation.
You will have a degree or equivalent experience in biological sciences with experience of molecular biology. Experience of Health and Safety management with a knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation within a wet-lab research environment, will be essential, together with specific knowledge and experience of GM techniques. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and to work independently when required, with excellent communication in English (both oral and written). A qualification in biosafety e/g Biosafety Practitioner level 1 and experience working at Containment Level 3, is desirable.
The position is permanent and full-time (part-time will be considered, with a minimum of 30 hours per week 0.8 fte).
