Applications are invited for a Research Fellow role at the Heat Pipe Research Group of Brunel, University of London. The Applicant will need to display strong knowledge in the development of mathematical models and simulation of industrial Heat Exchanger to be used and deployed within the GEOFLEXHEAT project. This project, coordinated by Brunel, will support all the cross activities occurring during the period, managing all consortium level activities and participate in the dissemination of project results. In this regard, the applicant will need to demonstrate a strong culture of research and management.
The Research Fellow will play a central role in advancing the development of next-generation heat exchanger systems by conducting in-depth research on materials that offer improved performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness. The core research areas will include:
Evaluating metals, alloys, and composites for strength, thermal conductivity, and durability under high pressure and temperature.
Investigating polymers and coatings that resist corrosion and thermal cycling, while enhancing material lifespan.
Conducting tests (e.g., corrosion, thermal stress) to validate material performance under real-world conditions.
Analysing the environmental impact and cost-effectiveness of materials, focusing on sustainability and lifecycle.
The successful applicant will be joining the Heat Pipe and Thermal Management Research Group, led by the Professor Hussam Jouhara, to work on the above-mentioned research tasks and project. The successful candidate will also be involved in a broad range of theory, development and empirical work to support the scientific objectives. This role also includes attending project meetings and working with other European project partners on the relevant research activities.
We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary University closure days, excellent training and development opportunities as well as a great occupational pension scheme and a range of health-related support.
