Education and Academic Services – Faculty Operations
This role is available immediately on a fixed term until the 31st of July 2026.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
Summary of the role
The role will be based within Education and Academic Services – Faculty Operations, for the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), as part of a multi-disciplinary Professional Services team providing support for all University activities. The Project Coordinator will support discrete projects or activities and the strategic development of nominated groups (eg research centres, teaching groups or areas of opportunity) across the Faculty as well as support with day-to-day delivery within the Departments. The post-holders will work with a range of academic and professional services staff to develop, grow or deliver change or ensure Department activity. Thie may include leading or helping with the creation of ideas and then enabling the sustainable development or delivery of ideas or activity, such as the development of commercial opportunities, income diversification ideas or support areas needing fast improvement. The post holders may be responsible for the implementation of University or Faculty initiatives at Department level working with and for the respective Department Manager.
The postholder will be expected to develop and manage a wide range of relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, investigate and understand challenges and then consider and recommend sustainable solutions that fit with the Faculty’s strategic direction.
These roles offer an exciting opportunity for the post holders to help shape and influence the next phase of key priority areas within HASS and ensure delivery of the education, research and business engagement portfolio within departments. These roles offer the opportunity to gain exposure to the wide range of work done in a Faculty whilst developing skills and gaining experience across the portfolio.
The successful candidates will be flexible, creative and innovative, team players with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, have a proven problem-solving ability with burgeoning leadership skills; they will need to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences including senior academic leaders and a mix of internal and external stakeholders. They will also need to have strong administrative skills, the ability to go and explore/scope out a problem considering possible solutions and timeframes for delivery and the ability to develop relationships quickly. The role may also include an element of budget management depending on the project/activity.
