The Faculty of Law is seeking a highly motivated and well-organised Events Assistant to support the delivery of a wide range of internal and external events, including high-profile academic conferences, student-focused activities, and flagship programmes. They will work closely with the Events Manager and will play a key role in enhancing the Faculty’s research culture and ensuring the smooth delivery of events across the academic year.
The successful candidate will assist in the planning, coordinating and delivering a wide portfolio of events, including the annual Faculty lectures, special lectures, conferences, symposiums, dinners and research group events; support budget preparation, procurement, and financial administration in line with University procedures; maintain appropriate records using an Excel workbook; provide event and administrative support for the Public International Law Research Group and Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre’s Annual International Intellectual Property Law Moot ; use various software systems including Padlet, Drupal, Stripo and Oracle.
The postholder will have excellent organisational skills, to manage and prioritise different administrative tasks simultaneously, to meet deadlines, to work effectively under pressure; excellent written and oral communication skills and able to communicate confidently and effectively with various stakeholders; willingness and availability to work flexibly, including outside normal office hours, and to travel to events outside Oxford if required and a solid understanding of budget management and financial planning. It would be desirable for candidates to have experience of, or an interest in, working in the field of higher education.
This role is fixed term for 2 years and full time and the postholder will be based at St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford. The Law Faculty supports hybrid working, the postholder will be required to be on site for at least 60% of their working week, and be willing to work flexibly as occasional work outside normal office hours will be required.
