We are looking to appoint a Deputy Facilities Manager to strengthen our facilities management team. This role offers a varied and exciting opportunity for someone with facilities and people management knowledge and expertise.
You will play a crucial role in the team, reporting directly to the Facilities Manager and deputising for them when necessary. You will line manage a small team of facilities technicians to ensure the efficient and responsive day-to-day reactive maintenance, repairs and servicing of Science Park grounds, buildings, and equipment. This will require you to work closely with Estates, Security Services, contractors and various stakeholders. Experience of managing staff and the ability to motivate and develop a team is essential.
The successful candidate will possess a good level of demonstrable building maintenance skills and have experience in plumbing, heating and ventilation systems, carpentry, general decorating, and minor electrical works. You will have hands-on experience of working in facilities management and building maintenance in a scientific, laboratory or technical research environment.
You will be knowledgeable in Health and Safety legislation, including COSHH, risk assessment and Manual Handling Regulations and will work collaboratively with the directorate H&S Manager.
You will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service at all times including to our commercial tenants. This includes handling and resolving enquiries from building users together with the ability to use your own initiative, work independently and also to effectively coordinate the workload of the FM team. You will be proficient in IT and have a high level of accuracy, particularly in relation to record keeping.
