We invite applications for either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Photography to contribute to the practice-based modules on our BA Photography programme. This is a fixed term (12 months), part-time post at 0.5 fte.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Photography or related area, and/or have equivalent professional experience. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching at undergraduate level, as well as a network of industry contacts and relevant professional experience as a professional photographer.
The Photography degree course has been created with an informed understanding of where photography is today and how it is evolving in the 21st century and balances academic study with hands-on photographic practice. The teaching focuses on photography as a profession and a visual language appropriate for the creative industries. It aims to develop students' creative practice, independent voice and personal identity as a photographer within a professional context.
The successful candidate will be a confident and inspiring teacher, with demonstrable ability and willingness to contribute to the running of a university programme, including taking on administrative and leadership roles.
You will be joining a rich and diverse research culture, and research-active Lecturers will contribute to the School of Art’s research centre, CoRA (Centre of Research in the Arts), as well as other groups and networks including the Photography Research Group and CIRIN (Creative Industries Research and Innovation Network).
We welcome informal enquiries, which should be directed to Dr Alex Bickley Trott, Programme Director for Art & Design: atrott@brookes.ac.uk
How to apply:
Complete the online application form, attach your CV and publications list and provide a personal statement which includes examples of how your skills and experience meet each of the selection criteria in the person specification, which are attached to the job description.
