This part-time (up to 0.6 FTE) post is available from 1 November 2025 on a fixed term basis until 31 October 2026. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements. 

The role

The post of Associate Lecturer in Sports Management reflects our commitment to (1) enhancing and expanding our existing teaching expertise in sport and exercise science; (2) revitalizing our education programmes with cutting-edge skills; and (3) aligning with the department’s strategic emphasis on developing (post) graduate skills.

The post will focus on teaching excellence and educational innovation within the field of sports management across a range of topics, such as sports operations, policy, governance, leadership, marketing, technology, e-sports, sustainability, globalisation, events and other contemporary sporting trends. The post contributes to delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supporting students, and contributing to curriculum development. The successful candidate will join a team that plays a crucial role in growing the discipline of sport and business management and shaping the next generation of leaders and managers in the industry by providing a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

About you

For an Associate Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent qualifications/experience  in an area of sports management teach and support learning;
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
  • Be expected to work towards Associate Fellow of the HEA status within two years of appointment (if not already achieved) and to attend formal CPD relating to this.

For a Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent in an area of sports management to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning;
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students;
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching;
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
