DESCRIPTION
You will be working within the Research, Evidence and Knowledge division in the Science Strategy & Evidence directorate. The division consists of two teams providing support to all of UKHSA: Knowledge & Library Services (KLS) and the Research Support & Governance Office (RSGO). The Science Evidence Review team is part of KLS.
The Science Evidence Review team’s main responsibility is to support the use of evidence within UKHSA’s Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) group by producing evidence synthesis products such as rapid reviews and evidence gap maps to inform public health policy, advice and research within UKHSA. We also contribute to building capacity for evidence synthesis across UKHSA by providing methodological expertise, delivering training, and supporting others in conducting rapid reviews.
Applicants are strongly advised to refer to the criteria in the person specification (available within the job description) within their application to make it clear how they meet each of the selection criteria.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Evidence Reviewer your core role will be to support the use of evidence to inform public health policy, advice and research within UKHSA. You will work on evidence synthesis products using systematic and rapid review methodologies, involving screening of studies, data extraction, critical appraisal, evidence synthesis and report drafting.
You will work within a review team, using software such as Endnote, EPPI-Reviewer and Microsoft Teams. You will work across a range of review topics, with timeframes for completing reviews varying from several days to several months.
You will also work on the development of processes and tools required to conduct rapid reviews, including methodological development (for instance, related to critical appraisal or certainty of evidence) and technological development (such as use of artificial intelligence to support the review process).
You will work matrix style with internal colleagues, both nationally and locally, and may work with external partners. You will also support others wishing to produce or commission evidence reviews, and may support the delivery of training and capacity building.
