The Oxford Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research has an exciting opportunity for an Imaging Manager to join the team, providing scientific and technical expertise in light microscopy for the research community. You will manage the imaging facility and its equipment, ensuring its optimal performance and accessibility, and oversee the microscopy Small Research Facility (SRF). This position is based at the Old Road Campus Research Building in Headington, Oxford.
You will manage the imaging facility by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring instruments are maintained, repaired promptly, and available for users. You will be providing training and ongoing support in microscopy techniques and equipment usage to students and researchers, developing and delivering refresher courses and maintaining an accessible library of training materials. Other duties will include assisting with image analysis, data interpretation, and, where possible, automate analysis workflows, and providing advice to staff with the presentation and publication of imaging data.
It is essential that you hold a degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related discipline and have detailed knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry. An in-depth working knowledge into the working of Confocal & Time-lapse microscopy systems with highly developed and proven microscopy and imaging skills is essential for this role, along with previous experience in the procurement of high value imaging equipment with a keen interest and knowledge of developments in the imaging field and the ability to advise on strategic decision making. It is essential you have experience in training staff or students to use microscopy equipment and preparing SOPs, and experience with maintaining and repairing precision microscopy equipment.
