The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.

People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed. The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. 

Your role

Reporting to the Dean the jobholder will support the Faculty with the coordination, implementation, monitoring of quality processes in teaching and learning:

  • Support the Dean’s office and course directors on matters relating to quality enhancement and assurance primarily for the Faculty’s study programmes; and teaching and learning initiatives
  • Secretary to the Faculty’s Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC) and coordination of the implementation of the decisions of the TLC
  • Support the Faculty and liaise with the Rectorate with regards to evaluations (internal and external) exercises and accreditation
  • Monitor and analyse data pertaining to study programmes’ performance and student feedback
  • Ensure internal communication and cooperation within the Faculty and with the Office of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs
  • Participate and initiate meetings and report to different audiences to further develop a culture of quality assurance
  • Acquire and maintain optimal relationships with European and international Higher Education quality assurance community 

Your profile

  • Higher education degree (Master or PhD); academic background in one or more of the subject areas covered by the Faculty will be considered an advantage
  • Ideally experience (min. 2 years) in a similar position; relevant experience in a higher education institution will be considered an asset
  • Good understanding of quality assurance standards and accreditation processes in Higher Education
  • Familiarity with Higher Education policy developments in relevant national, European (EU/EHEA), and international contexts will be considered an asset
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to relate to all levels of staff with tact and diplomacy and to facilitate progress in a professional manner
  • Strong organisational and prioritising skills with a proven ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to handle large data sets with a critical eye for identifying trends and variances
  • Fluent in English (both written and verbal), a good knowledge of French and/or German would be an advantage
