Post Summary:

The primary purpose of this post is to contribute to teaching, research and administrative activities in the School. The successful applicant will have an established reputation in teaching and research in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The successful candidate is expected to take up the post from the beginning of January 2026.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences currently offers undergraduate pharmacy education, postgraduate degrees by research and several taught postgraduate courses.

Qualifications Required:

  • Excellent academic record and a doctoral degree in pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Ideally the candidate will have a degree in pharmacy and be entitled to register as a pharmacist in the EU but qualifications at BSc level in chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry or medicinal chemistry will also be suitable.

Post status: Specific Purpose Contract

The specific purpose of this position is to cover the teaching, assessment and curriculum development work of the original post holder whilst they are seconded to a Head of School post. Employment is not offered on an indefinite duration basis as the original postholder is expected to return from this secondment.

Hours of Work: Part-Time, 0.7 Full Time Equivalent. Hours of work for academic staff are those as prescribed under Public Service Agreements. For further information please follow the link below:

Salary: This appointment will be made on the pro-rated Assistant Professor Salary Scale (€42,925 - €102,556 per annum pro-rata) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.  monthly/weekly payscales.
