We’re looking for a visionary Associate Dean – Social Sciences to lead our Business and Hospitality departments—key pillars of our student experience. If you’re a forward-thinking academic leader with a deep commitment to inclusive education, this is your chance to shape the future of learning and amplify opportunities for students from underrepresented communities.

Why This Role Matters

In this pivotal role, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure our programmes deliver transformational impact. You’ll inspire staff, empower students, and collaborate with internal and external partners to elevate academic standards and outcomes.

  • Lead and manage the Business and Hospitality programmes with purpose and clarity.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performing academic culture focused on student outcomes.
  • Support and mentor teaching teams to deliver engaging, future-focused curricula.
  • Drive improvements in student retention, progression, and achievement using data and insight.
  • Ensure robust quality assurance aligned with QAA and OfS standards.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships across the GUS network and beyond.
  • Deputise for the Academic Dean and represent LCCA at senior leadership level.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Experience in higher education leadership, ideally across social sciences disciplines.
  • A record of delivering excellent student outcomes, especially for diverse learners.
  • Strong grasp of academic governance, KPIs, and curriculum development.
  • People-first leadership style—collaborative, compassionate, and accountable.
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and continuous academic improvement.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education (Doctorate desirable).
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to obtain HEA Fellowship.
  • Evidence of recent professional development and engagement with sector standards.
