The TPI Centre is an independent, authoritative source of research and data on the progress of corporate and sovereign entities in transitioning to a low-carbon economy. It is the academic partner of the Transition Pathway Initiative; a global initiative aimed at helping investors assess companies’ preparedness for the transition and supporting efforts to address climate change.

The role will be based within the Banking team, which provides high-quality data to evaluate and compare the progress banks are making in aligning their financing activities with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Main duties and responsibilities of the post:

  • Contributing to writing up research-based policy relevant outputs, including but not restricted to reports, commentaries, or discussion papers in a timely manner, which contribute to the overall research programme of the Centre

Role requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, sustainable finance, environmental economics or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of the banking sector, its core activities and disclosure frameworks e.g., the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) gained through academic or professional experience
  • Academic or professional experience and an in-depth understanding of either (1) the decarbonisation challenges and technologies in one or more key high-emitting sectors, (2) the role and barriers of climate finance, corporate ESG, and impact investing, or (3) the development of climate mitigation/adaptation policy and legislation and the process for national target setting
  • Familiarity with corporate carbon accounting and Integrated Assessment Models/Energy-Economy models of low-carbon scenarios, such as those provided by the International Energy Agency (IEA)

We offer an occupational pension scheme, hybrid working, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
