The successful candidate will work on a project that aims to unravel novel mechanisms that control memory T cell function. Based on exciting recent results (www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.03.02.527395v2) we will characterise the biology of a subset of CD4+ memory T cells that activate the cytokine TGF-β and have suppressive properties.

The project aims to characterise the functional role of these cells in infection and cancer using murine models and human patient samples. The results will provide a step-change in our understanding of how memory T cell responses are controlled and reveal candidate mechanisms that could be targeted to promote more effective responses to infection and cancer.

Essential requirements/skills for the post include:

  • Holding (or expect to hold shortly) a PhD in Immunology or a related Biological Science (or equivalent experience.)
  • Extensive up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge in immunology-focussed laboratory research
  • Excellent technical skills in murine models used to study the immune system
  • Extensive experience in flow cytometry

Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party. The offer of employment will be dependent on the successful candidate passing that screening. Whilst you will be required to provide express consent at a later stage, by continuing with your application now you acknowledge that you are aware that such screening will take place, and agree to take part in the process.
